Workday Training: Designed for You Featured Image

Workday readiness is interactive and personalized to help Johns Hopkins prepare for Go Live in 2027. Before formal training begins in April 2027, several learning opportunities will be available. Training will be assigned based on your role in the system and will include eLearnings, reference guides, and instructor-led sessions.

Building a Foundation: Workday Year of Learning 2026

The Workday Year of Learning provides foundational Workday knowledge to the Johns Hopkins community before focused training is assigned. What’s Changing with Workday webinars, which have engaged 4,596 unique participants so far, continue throughout 2026, with more sessions starting in September. Those who were unable to attend prior sessions can view them on the myWorkday Learning site (averaging 8,742 monthly site visits). On the myWorkday Learning site, the JH community can also explore resources like What’s Changing for You, which highlights the impact of Workday on specific roles, What to Know pages, which provide a deeper dive into specific upcoming changes within core administrative areas, and the Workday Terminology Finder, which aligns current system terms to their Workday equivalents.

Validating and refining the Training experience: User Readiness Review

Ahead of the Workday training launch in April 2027, Sightline will conduct a training experience pilot called User Readiness Review (URR). During URR, invited participants from across JH will pilot Workday training materials, complete real business processes in a sandbox environment, and provide feedback on training experience. This input will allow Sightline to refine training material and other helpful information within Workday, ensuring that the training experience and resources provided are comprehensive and effective.

Delivering Training: Workday Training April – June 2026

Focused Workday training will be assigned in April 2027 through the myLearning system. The curriculum or classes are based on what employees will do in the system. For most of the Hopkins community, this will include a recommended curriculum for self-service tasks such as updating personal information and reimbursing work expenses. Employees who will transact in specific functional areas and those who manage people will receive a personalized required training curriculum based on their security roles in Workday.

To support different learning styles and work environments, training will be complemented by a variety of learning and practice opportunities. Depending on your role at Johns Hopkins, your Sightline training and help experience could include:

  • eLearnings: Self-paced, interactive courses available anytime for those who need the flexibility to learn on their own schedule
  • How-to videos: Short, visual demonstrations of key Workday processes for quick, on-the-go learning
  • Guidance in Workday: QuickTips and help text built directly into Workday to provide guidance at the time and place employees need it
  • Reference guides: Step-by-step documents for specific tasks and processes to save and review as they are needed
  • The Workday sandbox: A hands-on, secure practice environment using Johns Hopkins data where employees can explore and build confidence before Go Live
  • Specialized virtual instructor-led sessions: Specific roles with complex processes in Workday will participate in live, virtual training led by Sightline team members with Q&A and optional post-session office hours for follow-up questions

Training will be assigned a few months before Workday Go Live to keep information fresh and relevant, and to ensure all system adjustments from testing are complete. Employees will learn what they need, when they need it, and will be able to reference the various training materials and formats after go-live for continued support.

Support Continues after Go Live

Workday training information will remain accessible and up to date after Go Live. The Sightline team will provide continued support across all administrative business areas into fall and winter of 2027. From answering questions about new processes to refreshers on key tasks, resources and hands-on assistance will be there to help the Johns Hopkins community navigate Workday with confidence beyond July 2027.
